Midtown Transportation Solutions

Mission

Midtown Transportation Solutions (MTS) is the transportation management association for Atlanta’s Midtown area. MTS is one of several programs created by the Midtown Alliance to improve the quality of life in Midtown. This program was created specifically to address traffic issues, promote transportation alternatives, advocate for pedestrian improvements, and focus attention on the regional effort to improve air quality. The target market for MTS includes the more than 58,000 employees, 19,000 residents, and countless visitors to Midtown. MTS began providing services to Midtown businesses and residents in January 2001.

Service Area

The service area for MTS is a 2.5 square-mile urban activity center bounded by Monroe Drive on the east, Northside Drive on the west, Ralph McGill Boulevard on the south and Brookwood Station on the north. Within these boundaries is a fairly dense commercial core, which includes approximately 15 million square feet of office space, 500,000 square feet of retail space, 5,000 residential units, and 2,500 hotel rooms.

Services Offered

MTS offers a variety of services to encourage the use of alternative forms of transportation. These include ridesharing assistance to encourage carpooling and vanpooling, discounted transit program, vanpool start-up subsidies, the guaranteed ride home program, biking and walking advocacy and education, parking management services, development review, and customized commute options plans. Future initiatives include adding cycling and pedestrian infrastructure, a shared electric vehicle program, and a shuttle system.
